The Europa Clipper Mission confirmed the presence of a liquid water ocean beneath the moon’s icy surface. This ocean contains 2.5 times more liquid water than all the oceans and lakes of earth combined.
The Europa Lander Mission mapped the thickness of the moon’s outer icy shell before landing on the surface. Samples of the surface ice contained heavy elements necessary for life to thrive.
The Europa Explorer Mission landed on the surface and deployed a robotic probe designed to melt its way through the icy crust. After 18 months the probe finally broke through and began transmitting back data.
